I moved 8 beds from the 2010 location after realizing I had planted too close to 2 black walnut trees. Those beds are in the back in the picture. The ?finished? garden has 17 - 4x12 beds, 3 - 4x4 beds, 1 - 5x6 herb bed, 1 - 4x10 jerusalem artichoke bed and many tire beds containing mints, lemon balm, lavender, rhubarb, horseradish, blueberries, raspberries and honeyberries. I have 6 arches for climbing stuff such as squash, pole beans, peas, and melons with tires at the end of each side to plant them in. There is also one very long 2 foot wide bed along the fence by Joelle's old rv with more tires to hold stuff for her children to grow. Two of my 4x12 beds are permanent strawberry beds with June-bearing in one and ever-bearing in the other.
From another angle.
And another angle. Blueberries are in the front tires and the ones running perpendicular in the back are raspberries.

Onions and garlic. The stuff on the bed is to keep the cats from using the newly planted portion as a cat box.

Three 4x4 beds with trellises on north end of the garden. The bed in front is summer squash and zucchini with cucumbers under the trellis. The next bed back is greens and more cucumbers under the trellis. The back bed was planted to habanero peppers later with melon peach growing on the trellis. The long bed behind that is asparagus. Behind that is a potato tower.
Planting bush beans by the square foot method. I devised my own way of doing the grids that was easier than running rope or string both directions. The far back bed is everlasting strawberries. The bed behind the bean bed is broccoli. To the left of the broccoli is lettuce and greens. To the left of the beans is cabbage. The corner of a bed to the left of that is carrots and beets.
This is the start of the arches where I grew melons and winter squash. They did not do well this year.

July 5, 2011. In between the beds sure was needing to be mowed! Lots of weeding needed to be done in this pic, too.
